Purple Sand Worm

A 3D printed3D printing is the construction of physical objects from a digital 3D model file, using a machine called a 3D printer. Sand Worm painted like the iconic purple worms in Dungeons & Dragons.

This mini was 3D printed on my Anycubic Photon S with Anycubic UV resin.

I couldn’t really decide on colors here, so there was a lot of adjusting and repainting. At first, it was planned to be a brown and tan worm, to match the desert theme. It was a bit monochromatic and plain, so I used some yellow ink to add some color to the belly. Eventually I added some purple to the outer scales. This made the belly stand out and not match, so I added purple to the belly as well, which brought it back to a sort of pinkish brown.

Overall, the mini turned out worse than if I had just went ahead and painted it purple in the first place. It was a fix-up job. I unfortunately wasn’t enjoying painting this mini, as the model doesn’t have as well defined features as it appears, so I rushed it to finish rather than starting over. Not my best work, but it works as a decent table-readyTable-ready is a term to describe a miniature that may not look as good as the painter would like, but looks good enough that it’s ready to be played with on in tabletop games. mini for D&D.
